Mortal Shell 2 Gloom Farm Guide
The fastest early gloom farm is the Sunken Village sheep run: available the moment the prologue ends, zero risk, roughly 400-500 gloom per loop. From there the Abbey entrance camp and the Gate of Mammon coffins scale your income, night mode multiplies every farm, and two reload exploits cover the late game. This guide lists every working farm with its route, yield and reset trick.
Before any farm: switch to
night mode if you can stand the darkness — every kill pays more gloom at night. Also make sure your Tarstones are slotted in equipped gear rather than sitting in the inventory; slotted Tarstones level up while enemies die, so farming gloom levels your
Tarstones at the same time.
Every working gloom farm, earliest to latest
AVAILABLE AFTER THE PROLOGUE
Sunken Village sheep run
Yield: ~400-500 gloom per loop (500+ at night)
From the Widow's Overlook beacon — the first beacon you unlock after finishing the prologue — head toward Mushroom Village, activating that beacon as respawn insurance. Cleanse the corrupted gate on the path to open the route, then continue to the Sunken Village. Cross the bridge and kill the sheep gathered there: they deal no damage, pay roughly 50 gloom each, and the whole loop takes under a minute. Return to the nearby beacon, reset, repeat.
EARLY GAME · LIGHT COMBAT
Gloomshade Grove beacon pull
Yield: ~1,000 gloom per run
Travel to the Gloomshade Grove beacon and aggro the three to four enemies stationed beside it. Unlike the sheep, these fight back and can hit hard, but each pays around 250 gloom before gloom-gain buffs. The fight happens right next to the beacon, so the reset loop is nearly instant. If your early build clears the group safely, this outpaces the sheep run per minute.
EARLY GAME · ZERO RESISTANCE
Abbey entrance static camp
Yield: ~1,000+ gloom per run
Take the lift down from Marrowkeep toward the Abbey entrance beacon. Inside are 10-13 stationary enemies that never move or fight back, worth 100+ gloom each, plus a coffin enemy that pops out for roughly 450. Behind that coffin hangs a key that opens the boss gate below; if you cannot beat that boss yet, quit to the main menu and reload — you respawn at the entrance beacon with everything reset.
EARLY-MID GAME
Gate of Mammon coffin farm
Yield: 400-500 gloom per coffin enemy
From the Gate of Mammon beacon, hop the wall behind you and descend to the coffin cluster. Lure the five to ten coffin enemies out and kill them — each pays 400-500 gloom, more with gloom-gain buffs. Their laser attacks can hit each other, so circle strafing the group does part of the work for you. Running back up the trail is slow: quit to the main menu and reload instead, which drops you straight back at the beacon with all coffins respawned.
Gold coins: the Proxima collector loop
Gloom levels you up; gold coins buy gear and materials. The best gold farm uses a Shell ability instead of a route: unlock Proxima (one of the early Shells — see the Shell tier list) and put points into her Collector passive. Every enemy you slay then drops specimens, which you sell to Merrick at Marrowkeep for 100 gold coins each. One point in Collector is enough to start; three points maximise the drop rate. Running any of the farms above with Collector active means every gloom loop also pays out gold.
Late-game exploits (patch risk)
Two glitches currently define endgame farming. Both were circulating in late August 2026 and are widely expected to be nerfed — treat them as temporary.
Grisha Remnant duplication
Grisha Remnants can be equipped as a passive that summons a Grisha on weapon swings, and each duplication returns another Remnant. At the dungeon near the Abandoned Outpost beacon, stand behind the bell at the angle where newly summoned Grishas fall off the map onto the spikes. Each instant death refunds a Remnant, so your stock snowballs — the more you hold, the higher the spawn chance (five to ten Remnants is roughly a 5-10% chance per swing). To bootstrap your first stock: collect the Slayer Seal inside Marrowkeep (pick it up but do not equip it — equipping it disables achievements on that save), break the four chains around the chalice in the training room, interact with the Commune of Chaos to teleport to a hidden dungeon, pull the lever and defeat the Grisha waiting there, then quit and reload to repeat.
Brother's Court beacon reload
Deposit 168 egg collectibles in Marrowkeep's egg room (eggs come from beacons and corrupted gates) to trigger a cutscene, then kill the NPC who transforms and open the secret room below. Walk — do not fast travel — from Marrowkeep to the Brother's Court beacon along the route where an enemy falls to its death. Every time you load into that beacon, the fall replays and pays you 3,000+ gloom per reload, closer to 4,500 at night, repeatable indefinitely.
Gloom farming FAQ
- What is gloom in Mortal Shell 2?
- Gloom is the experience currency you earn from killing enemies. Spending it levels your Shell and grants shell points, so farming gloom is how you level up fast.
- Does night mode give more gloom?
- Yes. Enemies killed in night mode drop noticeably more gloom — the Sunken Village sheep run goes from roughly 400 per loop to 500+ at night. If you can tolerate the darker visuals, run farms at night.
- What is the best early gloom farm?
- The Sunken Village sheep farm. It is reachable right after the prologue, the sheep never fight back, and one loop pays about 400-500 gloom.
- Is there a gloom glitch or exploit?
- As of late August 2026, two are circulating: the Grisha Remnant duplication trick at the Abandoned Outpost and the Brother's Court beacon reload exploit worth 3,000+ gloom per load-in. Both are expected to be patched — check the latest update notes before relying on them.
- How do I farm gold coins quickly?
- Unlock Proxima and invest in her Collector passive. Slain enemies drop specimens you can sell to Merrick at Marrowkeep for 100 gold coins each.
