Mortal Shell 2 Boss Order: All 10 Main Bosses

Mortal Shell 2 has 10 main bosses (around 45-46 bosses total with mini-bosses). The intended route starts with Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods in the Glutted Mire — or the Tar Golem, if your route reaches it first — and ends with Zmey, the Unbidden. The useful secret: the first six main bosses can be fought in any order through the Corrupt Gates, so this list is a recommendation, not a rail. Full order below, plus the optional bosses worth skipping and revisiting.

Routing your first hours instead? The first-route guide covers the opening region, and the beginner guide explains posture breaks — the skill every boss fight tests. For the late-game gatekeeper, see the Monolith boss guide.

The 10 main bosses, in order

BOSS 1 OF 10

Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods

Region: Glutted Mire

The intended first main boss on the northern-first route. If your exploration reaches the Tar Golem first, that fight works equally well as an opener.

BOSS 2 OF 10

The Lost Child

Region: Sanguine Caverns

Early main boss; the first six are all reachable through Corrupt Gates in flexible order.

BOSS 3 OF 10

Nameless Captive

Region: Prisoners' Domain

Main boss three in the community consensus order.

BOSS 4 OF 10

Droeg, the Conqueror

Region: Conquered Temple region

Mid-list main boss; still within the flexible first six.

BOSS 5 OF 10

Hexapod

Region: Withered Shoals

Beacon-adjacent region boss; the Hexapod's Burrow beacon marks the area.

BOSS 6 OF 10

Sir Isaac

Region: Faded Citadel area

The last of the flexible six — after this, the endgame sequence locks in.

BOSS 7 OF 10

Urrig, the Executioner

Region: Conquered Temple

Endgame begins. Tyrant's Sycophants waits right after, at the Ovate's Chamber beacon in the same region.

BOSS 8 OF 10

Malborn Offspring

Region: Endgame

Main boss eight of ten.

BOSS 9 OF 10

Orrem, the Golem

Region: Endgame

The last hurdle before the finale.

BOSS 10 OF 10

Zmey, the Unbidden

Region: Finale

The final boss. Beating the story opens free-roam for cleanup before New Game+.

Optional bosses: skip now, return later

Great Arbiter of Flesh — an optional mini-boss in the open area just past the Widow's Overlook beacon. He is a greatsword fight: keep your distance, parry his melee swings and fill his Break Gauge. The reward, the Arbiter's Prize Tarstone, justifies a return trip once your parry timing is sharp. Tyrant's Sycophants appears at the Ovate's Chamber beacon in the Conquered Temple, right after Urrig — it is on the main path but easy to walk past. And the Monolith sits behind the 168-Ova gate in the Unfound Path as a high-reward story fight (65,511 Gloom).

Why the first six are flexible

The first six main bosses are reached through Corrupt Gates, and the game lets you cleanse them in whichever order you explore. The intended design — confirmed by community completion guides — is to clear the northern region first, which naturally puts Magdalena or the Tar Golem in slot one. Practically: fight whichever boss your current build handles. Stuck? Leave through the gate, farm Gloom, upgrade with the Tarstone guide, and return stronger — nothing is missable before New Game+.

Boss order FAQ

What order should I fight the bosses in Mortal Shell 2?
The intended order is: Magdalena the Lady of the Woods (or the Tar Golem, depending on route), The Lost Child, Nameless Captive, Droeg the Conqueror, Hexapod, Sir Isaac, Urrig the Executioner, Malborn Offspring, Orrem the Golem, and finally Zmey the Unbidden. The first six are technically flexible — see below.
How many bosses are in Mortal Shell 2?
Around 45-46 in total: 10 main bosses plus roughly 35 mini-bosses spread through dungeons and the open world. Only the 10 main bosses gate progression.
Can I fight the main bosses in any order?
The first six can be tackled in any order through the Corrupt Gates — the game's intended route completes the northern region first, but nothing forces it. The last four (Urrig onward) follow the endgame sequence.
Which boss should I fight first?
Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods in the Glutted Mire — or the Tar Golem if your route reaches it first. Both are tuned as first main bosses, and the community consensus puts Magdalena's region first for the intended northern-first route.
Is the Great Arbiter of Flesh a main boss?
No — it is an optional mini-boss in the open area just past the Widow's Overlook beacon. He swings a greatsword; keep your distance, parry his melee and fill his Break Gauge. He drops the Arbiter's Prize Tarstone, so he is worth returning to once your parry timing is confident.
What is the final boss of Mortal Shell 2?
Zmey, the Unbidden. Orrem the Golem precedes it as the last endgame hurdle. Story completion then opens free-roam before New Game+.
